Incoloy 330 (N08830) Nickel-Based Alloy Overview:
Incoloy 330 (N08330) is a nickel-iron-chromium austenitic alloy designed for oxidation and carburization in high temperature environments. The nickel content of 34% to 37% gives the material a high resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and sigma phase precipitation embrittlement. The material is processed by standard machining procedures for stainless steel and nickel alloys. It is widely used in the environment of combination of cyclic heating and carburizing to resist corrosion. Incoloy 330 stainless steel is an austenitic heat and corrosion resistant alloy with a combination of strength and resistance to carburization, oxidation and thermal shock resistance. This alloy is designed for use in high temperature industrial environments where the combined effects of carburization and thermal cycling are necessary, such as in the heat treatment industry. Carburizing and oxidation resistance to about 2100 °F is an increase in the silicon content of the alloy.

Incoloy is a nickel ferrochrome alloy designed for oxidation and carbonation at elevated temperatures.Incoloy alloy has many kinds: common such as Incoloy800, Incoloy800H, Incoloy800HT, Incoloy825, Incoloy840, Incoloy901, Incoloy925, Incoloy20, Incoloy330, Incoloy 25-6mo, etc.The alloy contains a small amount of the metallic elements molybdenum and copper.In reductive acid and oxidizing acid, it has good corrosion resistance, as well as good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion.It has excellent corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid.The alloy has good cold and hot working properties and is easy to be formed and welded.The main products of this alloy are rods, tubes, plates, strips, wires and forgings, etc. It is mainly used in the chemical, petrochemical, nuclear and rare metal refining industries.

Incoloy 330 (N08830) nickel base alloy corrosion resistance:
Incoloy 330 (N08830) has excellent corrosion resistance, especially for oxidation, carburizing and nitriding environments. In an aqueous medium environment, the chromium component of 330 is resistant to oxidative environmental corrosion, and the nickel component enhances resistance to reducing corrosion. The high nickel content of the alloy gives the material a strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and sigma phase embrittlement.
Incoloy 330 (N08830) nickel-based alloy oxidation resistance:
Incoloy 330 (N08830) has excellent oxidation resistance and excellent anti-fouling ability at temperatures up to 2000°F (1095°C). Any oxide scale will adhere tightly to the surface of the material, especially under alternating thermal and thermal cycling conditions.
 
Incoloy 330 (N08830) nickel-based alloy carburization resistance:
35% nickel and a certain amount of silicon give the material excellent resistance to carburization. Alloy 330 exhibits excellent resistance to "green rot" in alternating environments of carburization and oxidation.
 
Incoloy 330 (N08830) Ni-based alloy heat treatment:
Incoloy 330 (N08830) is an austenitic stainless steel that cannot be hardened by heat treatment. Hardening can only be achieved by cold working to reach room temperature strength. For most high temperature applications, 330 is not annealed after cold forming or welding. If the material needs to be completely annealed, it should be carried out at a temperature range of 1870-2050 °F (1020-1120 °C). Water quenching of the material gives the best creep resistance, but the same effect can be achieved by rapidly cooling to below 800 °F (425 °C).
 
Incoloy 330 (N08830) nickel base alloy manufacturing:
Incoloy 330 (N08830) alloys can be hot formed or cold formed using standard procedures for austenitic stainless steels and nickel alloys. The work hardening rate of the alloy can be compared to other austenitic stainless steels. It is recommended to shape the material at room temperature. If the material requires hot working, the material should be uniformly heated to 2050-2150 °F (1120-1180 °C) and then lowered to 17501⁄4 °F (950 °C) for thermal insulation. The material should be cooled by water quenching.
We recommend annealing after hot working to ensure the best corrosion resistance and optimum grain structure of the material. The material cannot be forged or bent in the range of 1200-1600 °F (650-870 °C) because the ductility of the material is low in this temperature range, which may cause the intergranular structure of the austenitic alloy material to rupture.

 

Incoloy 330 (N08830) nickel-based alloy welding:
Incoloy 330 (N08830) can be welded by tungsten arc welding, electrode welding and plasma arc machining, and the best corrosion resistance is obtained by tungsten arc welding. Prior to welding, the material should be annealed and kept clean and free of dirt, grease and other impurities. Grinding should be performed within one inch of both sides of the joint. The temperature between the solder layers should not exceed 300 °F (150 °C), and heat treatment is not required before or after soldering. Alloy 330 can be welded to different types of metals.
