Description:

Stainless steel 443, which is a kind of ferritic stainless steel, is now generally used to replace 304. Its rust resistance and processing performance are comparable to those of 304. It is currently widely promoted in the fields of electrical appliances, utensils, kitchen equipment, elevators, and oven making.

 

Specification:

The chemical composition and mechanical properties of stainless steel 443:

Carbon [C] = 0.01%, Chromium [Cr] = 21.0%, Titanium [Ti] = 0.3%,

Yield strength σ0.2 = 305Mpa,

Tensile strength σb = 483Mpa,

Elongation El = 31%.

 

Material characteristics:

443 stainless steel substrate pitting resistance index is 300mv, comparable to 304 stainless steel, high thermal stability, good tensile properties.

 

Material properties are superior to ordinary ferritic stainless steel:

443 stainless steel improves corrosion resistance by increasing Cr, lowering C, and adding Ti. Improved pitting resistance: increasing the Cr content increases the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel substrate, and increasing Ti improves its pitting resistance. The increase of Cr content increases the electrode potential of the stainless steel matrix. At the same time, Ti preferentially forms a stable compound with C in stainless steel, inhibits the combination of C and Cr in stainless steel, inhibits the appearance of Cr-depleted point and improves its pitting resistance.

 

The heat service life is improved: Ti element preferentially forms C compound, which inhibits the enrichment of C to the grain boundary under the heated condition, improves the thermal service life of the stainless steel, improves the intergranular corrosion resistance of the stainless steel, and improves the thermal stability of the stainless steel.

Faced with this market situation, TISCO began research and development of low-cost ferritic stainless steel instead of 304 in the second half of last year. In view of the shortcomings of poor workability and weldability of ferritic stainless steel, these defects of ferritic stainless steel are improved from the design and process technology of steel components, so that the corrosion resistance, processing properties and welding properties of ferritic stainless steel are achieved. At a level equivalent to 304, a new ferritic stainless steel

 

443 steel was designed to replace 304 stainless steel. Since March of this year, Taigang has tried to replace the low-cost ferritic stainless steel 443 of 304. After careful production and strict organization, the final cold-rolled products have good surface quality, mechanical and processing and welding performance equivalent to 304. . After trial use by users, the processing and welding performance of 443 ferritic stainless steel produced by TISCO has reached or exceeded the advanced level in foreign countries.


In the production process, the steel has a high chromium content and is easily broken, and the hot rolled surface is rough. Faced with these problems, TISCO has adopted a series of technological measures to solve these problems in a timely manner. The mass production of TTS443 has been realized since May and is immediately available to the market.
