The alloy k-500 is a nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of alloy 400 with greater strength and hardness.The alloy k-500 provides three times higher yield strength than the alloy 400.These enhanced properties are mainly obtained by adding aluminum and titanium elements to nickel as the main elements and by aging hardening.During the aging hardening process, a small amount of Ni3(titanium, aluminum) particles were precipitated into the matrix.The k-500's low permeability, high strength and good corrosion resistance have been widely used, mainly in oil well detection equipment and electronic parts.An important property is that the k-500 is nonmagnetic even at very low temperatures.Aging hardening will produce initial volume shrinkage.In the aging hardening process, the round rod with diameter of 2.5 x 10-4 in is shrunk.For optimal performance, the typical aging hardening process is described belowAt 982 ° C for 30 minutes and then water quenched annealing.At 593 ° C to 607 ° C to keep 16 hours later with the slow cooling furnace 9.4 ° C - 3.8 ° C per hour up to 482 ° C.After cooling to room temperature from 482 ° C, it may take some boiler cooling, air cooling or quenching, without considering the cooling rate.
