Product Description

ASTM A276 304 stainless steel bar, pickled, bright polished, grind finish, 6 meter length

HAOSTEEL is one of the most professional manufacturer and supplier of ASTM A276 304 stainless steel bar.

Stainless Steel Bar Grade 304 is the standard 18/8 (18% chrome, 8% nickel) austenitic stainless steel. It is a non-magnetic alloy in the annealed condition but becomes magnetic as it is cold worked. It is the most commonly used of all stainless grades. 304 can be easily welded and is the choice for many deep drawn, spun or formed parts due to its high ductility.

Chemical composition:

C Si Mn P S Cr Ni N
≤ 0.08 ≤ 1.00 ≤ 2.00 ≤ 0.045 ≤ 0.03 18.00 - 20.00 8.00 - 10.50 ≤ 0.10

Physical Properties:

Ultimate Tensile Strength – 75 KSI min (515 MPa min)
Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) – 30 KSI min (205 MPa min)
Elongation – 40% min
Hardness – HRB92 max (210HV max)

304 stainless steel density 7.93 g/cm3 austenitic stainless steel generally use this value 304 chromium content (%) 18--20 . 304 is equivalent to our country 0Cr19Ni9 (0Cr18Ni9) stainless steel, 304 stainless steel is a versatile stainless steel material , anti-rust performance than the 200 series of stainless steel materials. It is also better than high temperature, and can reach as high as 1000-1200 degrees. 304 stainless steel has excellent stainless corrosion resistance and better resistance to intergranular corrosion. In the experiment, it was found that the concentration of 304 stainless steel with a concentration of ≤ 65% in the nitric acid below the boiling temperature is very resistant to corrosion. It also has good corrosion resistance to alkaline solutions and most organic and inorganic acids.

304 (18Cr-8Ni) material: as a widely used steel, has good corrosion resistance / heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties; punching / bending and other hot workability, no heat treatment hardening phenomenon (non-magnetic, Then use temperature -196 °C ~ 800 °C). Uses: Houseware (1/2 cutlery/cabinet/indoor pipe/water heater/boiler/bathtub), auto parts (windshield wipers/mufflers/molded products), medical appliances, building materials, chemicals, food industry, agriculture, marine components.

The rust phenomenon of 304 materials may be due to the following reasons:

First, the use of chloride ions in the environment. Chloride ions are widespread, such as salt/ sweat/ water/ sea breeze/ soil. Stainless steel in the presence of chloride ions, corrosion, and even faster than ordinary low-carbon steel. Therefore, the use environment of stainless steel is required, and it needs to be wiped regularly to remove dust and keep it clean and dry. In the United States, there is an example: an enterprise uses an oak container to hold a solution containing chloride ions. The container has been used for nearly 100 years. It was planned to be replaced in the 1990s. Because the oak material is not modern enough, the container is replaced with stainless steel, leakage happened due to corrosion after 16 days.

Second, no solution treatment. The alloying elements do not dissolve into the matrix, resulting in low matrix alloy content and poor corrosion resistance.

Third, this material that does not contain titanium and niobium has an inherent tendency to intergranular corrosion. Addition of titanium and niobium, together with a stable treatment, can reduce intergranular corrosion. A high-alloy steel that resists corrosion in air or in chemically corrosive media.

From the metallographic point of view, since the stainless steel contains chromium and forms a thin chromium film on the surface, this film separates and invades oxygen from the steel and plays a role in corrosion resistance.

In order to maintain the inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel, steel must contain more than 12% chromium.

304 is a versatile stainless steel that is widely used to make equipment and parts that require good overall performance (corrosion resistance and formability).

304 stainless steel is a grade of stainless steel produced according to American ASTM standards. 304 is equivalent to China's 0Cr19Ni9Ti stainless steel. 304 chromium 18%, nickel 9%, carbon content ≤0:08%

304L is a variant of 304 stainless steel with a low carbon content and is used where welding is required. The lower carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone near the weld, and the precipitation of carbides may result in intergranular corrosion of the stainless steel in some environments (weld erosion).
